This paper studies the Biswas–Milovic equation that is a generalized version of the familiar nonlinear Schrodinger's equation describing the propagation of solitons through optical fibers for trans-continental and trans-oceanic distances with Kerr law nonlinearity by the aid of the first integral method. The measures and calculation of different properties such as refractive index, density, speed of sound, excess molar volume, and isentropic compressibility of the ternary heterogeneous compounds by ethanol + water + (n-hexane, n-heptane, n-octane, n-nonane) have been performed in the range 288.15–323.15 K and atmospheric pressure. Attending to the accurate results of these models, the equation of state enclosing mixing rules is indicated as a simple estimation of the procedures of these properties for this kind of multicomponent systems.  相似文献

A new ordinary differential inequality without global solutions is proposed. Comparison with similar differential inequalities in the well‐known concavity method is performed. As an application, finite time blow up of the solutions to nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation and generalized Boussinesq equation is proven. The initial energy is arbitrary high positive. As shown by Crow in 1970, the evolution of two almost parallel vortex filaments with opposite circulation exhibits a long-wave instability. Ultimately, the symmetric mode increases its amplitude reconnecting both filaments and ending into the formation of an almost periodic structure of vortex rings. This is a universal process, which appears in a wide range of scales: from the vortex trails behind an airplane to a microscopic scale of superfluids and Bose–Einstein condensates. In this paper, I will focus on the vortex reconnection for the latter case by employing Gross–Pitaevskii theory. Essentially, I focus on the well-known laws of interaction and motion of vortex filaments. By means of numerical simulations, as well as theoretically, I show that a self-similar finite-time dynamics manifests near the reconnection time. A self-similar profile is selected showing excellent agreement with numerical simulations.  相似文献

This article presents a correction method for a better resolution of the problem of estimating and predicting pollution, governed by Burgers' equations. The originality of the method consists in the introduction of an error function into the system's equations of state to model uncertainty in the model. The initial conditions and diffusion coefficients, present in the equations for pollution and concentration, and also those in the model error equations, are estimated by solving a data assimilation problem. The efficiency of the correction method is compared with that produced by the traditional method without introduction of an error function.Three test cases are presented in this study in order to compare the performances of the proposed methods. In the first two tests, the reference is the analytical solution and the last test is formulated as part of the “twin experiment”.The numerical results obtained confirm the important role of the model error equation for improving the prediction capability of the system, in terms of both accuracy and speed of convergence.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new methodology for numerically solving elliptic and parabolic equations with discontinuous coefficients and singular source terms. This new scheme is obtained by clubbing a recently developed higher‐order compact methodology with special interface treatment for the points just next to the points of discontinuity. The overall order of accuracy of the scheme is at least second. We first formulate the scheme for one‐dimensional (1D) problems, and then extend it directly to two‐dimensional (2D) problems in polar coordinates. In the process, we also perform convergence and related analysis for both the cases. Finally, we show a new direction of implementing the methodology to 2D problems in cartesian coordinates. We then conduct numerous numerical studies on a number of problems, both for 1D and 2D cases, including the flow past circular cylinder governed by the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. We compare our results with existing numerical and experimental results. In all the cases, our formulation is found to produce better results on coarser grids. For the circular cylinder problem, the scheme used is seen to capture all the flow characteristics including the famous von Kármán vortex street. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
